Steps

  1. Drain the block 1 lb tofu of its packaged liquids. Then slice the block tofu into 2.5-inch-long rectangles that are 1/3-inch thick.
  2. On a large baking sheet or plate lined with paper towel, place 1 lb tofu slices flat in a single layer. Pat dry tofu with more paper towel.
  3. Then evenly sprinkle ¾ tsp on top of the tofu. Set aside for 10 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  4. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine ¼ cup soy sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp gochugaru, ½ tbsp rice vinegar and ⅓ cup water as sauce ingredients.
  5. Heat 1 ½ tbsp vegetable oil in a large pan on medium heat. Pan fry 1 lb tofu pieces on both sides until golden, about 2-4 minutes per side.

    8 min

  6. Then pour the sauce over the 1 lb tofu and cook for 3-4 minutes or until sauce has reduced. Garnish with 1 tsp sesame seeds and 2 green onions and serve with steamed ½ tbsp rice.
